Do you know Momofuku Ando ?

If you survived college by eating nothing but ramen noodles, then it’s about time you paid tribute to a great man named Momofuku Ando. 50 years ago, this Japanese businessman created the very first Chicken Ramen, and the world has been devouring his instant creation ever since.
Yesterday in Osaka, Japanese dignitaries gathered at the World Instant Noodle Summit for the unveiling of a new statue depicting Momofuku Ando, which was erected outside Nissin’s Instant Ramen Museum

Holly Gas Mask Mr.Vuitton
Bring on the pollutants and harmful toxins—these Diddo Velema, Gucci and Louis Vuitton collaborative gas-masks are going to make fashionistas want to inhale stuff that’ll kill them. The high-fashioned monogrammed, and diamond encrusted headwear was debuted by Velema at the 2008 Luxury Show in Bucharest, Romania and seem to be reserved for the filthy-rich hypochondriacs. Chemical warfare? No biggie, we’re dyin’ in style. Check close-up shots of the masks after the jump.

TAKASHI = BAD ASS
NY///OPENING NITE WITH TAKASHI MURAKAMI AT THE BROOKLYN MUSEUM…

Kanye realizes he’s a champion in their eyes…
Following the long run of Japanese Pop Art power player TAKASHI MURAKAMI’s retrospective “© Murakami,” show in Los Angeles, the massive retrospective picked up and relocated to the BROOKLYN MUSEUM where the exhibit’s star-studded opening charity gala was held last nite. Supertouch buddy, director DAVID LAM was on hand to take in the spectacle firsthand, including the highlight of the evening, a performance by Supertouch ally KANYE WEST to an adoring crowd, including fashionista Marc Jacobs who queued up for a closer look at Kanye’s performance like a rabid teenager. Adding a bit of tongue-in-cheek irony to this stop was the inclusion of a mini-exhibition of fake Murakami Louis Vuitton merchandise to playfully contrast the onsite LV boutique (which, once again, kicked none of its profits back to the museum) selling very real and very expensive merchandise to the housewives of New York City. HAVE A LOOK:

Kanye gives his all for the attendant art stars…
PLEASE LOOK AT THE DIORS AS THE SIT ON THE DIORS (shoes)....

Over at WWD we came across some interesting information about the opening of the Takashi Murakami exhibition that we previewed here already. Aside from presenting a new Monogramouflage pattern developed by the artist, the message behind the pattern is also quite special.
"Tonight, Vuitton is celebrating Takashi Murakami's "© Murakami" exhibition with a "Brooklyn Ball" at the Brooklyn Museum featuring a special performance by Kanye West, the unveiling of a new camouflage print developed by Murakami and Marc Jacobs called Monogramouflage and a special installation designed to bring attention to one of the industry's biggest travails counterfeits.
But rather than simply hand out leaflets to alert guests about the importance of protecting original designs, the French luxury goods house will be taking a novel, somewhat intriguing route. Outside the museum, Vuitton is setting up 10 New York-style street vendors not to sell fakes, but rather authentic Louis Vuitton product and special Monogramouflage canvases that Murakami has created specifically for the exhibition."
If you can make it out there and get one of those Monogramouflage canvas, you can be sure it's a good investment! Hopefully they will be using the pattern on leather goods as well.

Woody VS AMERICAN APPAREL
Woody Allen Takes On American Apparel

Woody Allen Ad / Photo: Boris Fishman
Pencil-necked cradle-robber/once genius filmmaker Woody Allen is tight over thisAmerican Apparel ad from 2007, and is suing the brightly-colored hipster shopping haven for over $10 million dollars. According to the Dow Jones, Allen claims the billboards featuring him dressed as a rabbi (taken from a scene in Annie Hall) were used without his permission. Allen’s legal team also said that the billboards not only were displayed in prime spots in NYC and L.A but also on AA’s website and partner sites. We’re thinking American Apparel should’ve just went withMatisyahu—we hear he comes much cheaper. Remember the non-Hasidic Woody after the jump with one of our favorite scenes from Annie Hall. Everyone go download Annie Hall now....
